Fall Fishing Firing Off '08

If you have been saving your pennies to come fishing this fall, break open the bank! Both Offshore and Inshore fishing have been fantastic! Above is a picture of a Sailfish we caught last Wednesday along with 10 nice Wahoos! Friday we had 12  more Wahoos and Yesterday we caught 41 Dolphin(Mahi Mahi), although most were on the small side, we had alot of action. There are many open days this fall and the fishing should stay good through the New Year.

Inshore action has been stellar as well with Slams(Redfish, Trout, and Flounder on the same Day) most every trip and lots of aggressive topwater bites! The Redfish was 31" and the Trout was 23" and both fell for Topwater Plugs, and on the day we caught the Red we also caught 2 more Reds and over 30 Trout!! I believe it is setting up to be a memorable Fall Season for both Speckled Trout and Redfish as well as Flounder.

Fall Fishing Firing Off '08

Great Summer in '08

Well it has been a VERY busy Summer, with lots of Travel and lots of Tournaments so far.We just got back from Charleston, SC where we fished the Megadock Tournament as well as a few Customer Days,although we did not do too well in the Tournament, we did catch a few Sailfish as well as some Dolphin and even a nice Gag Grouper. In June, the 'Stream Weaver' Team managed to pull off a win in the 2008 Cape Fear Blue Marlin Tournament! We were fortunate enough to catch the First Blue Marlin of the Tournament and our 400 pts. held up to the end. Above is a picture of the 200-250lb Blue right before we let him go. As of the last update we were ranked 8th in the North Carolina Governors Cup Billfishing Series with 2 Tourneys to go Ducks Unlimited and Pirates Cove. I will keep you posted. The Boat is Scheduled to be back home late August and will be available to fish out of Wrightsville Beach this Fall. Last year was a really good year for Fall Wahoo and Sailfish all the way into the New Year.

Inshore fishing has also been productive, with a host of species to target. On a trip yesterday, we jumped off a nice Ladyfish on artificial and had a few fly shots as well.The Redfish seem to be on the move following the Finger Mullet and some large schools have been found with big upper-slot and over-slot fish eating Topwater plugs readily. Flounder are fairly consistent on bait and there are some nice Blues around. Speckled Trout fishing has remained good all year and I am hoping for another awesome late summer Topwater bite like we had last year. The Trout Pic is of a 5.5lber that ate a Topwater Plug in May, and is one of my biggest yet! Tarpon have been seen and caught around Bald Head Island and we are currently booking for the pre-fall run.

We are available for charter, both Inshore and Offshore, starting in late August. With limited availability before then.

Spring Fishing Heats Up!

Well it is time to go fishing!There was a Blue Marlin bite this past weekend out of Wrightsville Beach that would rival most Worldwide destinations. I know of 7 Blue Marlin caught from 150lbs to over 600lbs and twice that many seen. The 'Stream Weaver' saw two and caught one on Saturday alone and had over a dozen nice Dolphin as well! No Yellowfins yet to speak of yet, although I think we will see some soon, but I would trade Tunas for Blue Marlin anytime.The Inshore fishing is just as good. The Kingston Clan from the Northeast came to Wrightsville Beach for a vacation and pretty much fished every Daylight hour. Myself and a couple of other local guides had various Family members out all week and we caught Redfish, Black Drum, Speckled Trout, Bluefish(with some really big ones seen), King Mackeral and plenty of Dogfish Sharks. Abbey and Tracy' The Shark Wranglers' caught over 30 one Afternoon, and for 8 and 12 year old Lady Anglers, were very impressive, baiting their own hooks and landing each others' Sharks! Also some of the bigger Redfish have moved back inside and onto the flats where some large schools of 'tailers' were seen, it's time to throw the Fly. Springtime 08

Blooming Azaleas, sunny afternoons, warm water temps, Drum, Speckled Trout and Flounder! Springtime in Wrightsville Beach is definately underway. The pretty days are happening more frequently now and the fish are reacting in our favor. I just got off the water after fishing two days in a row and we caught over a dozen Speckled Trout(up to 21"), Twenty Puppy Drum(16-20 in), and plenty of small Bluefish, all on Artificials! Last week saw the first Inshore Slam, with 30 Reds, 2 Trout and 2 Flounder. We are managing a decent number of bites every trip, even on the cooler days, and I expect it to only get better as the water temps stabilize and stay in the mid 60 degree range. The bigger Reds should be showing up back inside soon and pushing up into the shallows as we head into summer. Offshore should heat up as well in April with the arrival of Yellowfin Tuna and warm Gulfstream water. There have been catches of Blackfin Tuna, Wahoo, Sailfish and Blue Marlin already this Year and if early Spring is any indication of what's to come, I believe we are going to have some great fishing, Offshore and Inshore, right on into Summer.

Charters News 11/07

Well it has been a long time since my last Fishing report.We have a new addition to the Circle H Clan , 8 Month old Flynn Rose. It was a busy summer with the tournament schedule and new baby duties keeping me occupied, to say the least. We had a few good showings in the tournaments and even won a little money, we saw some big Blue Marlin in the spread but the biggest we caught was around 400lbs. As far as numbers of Billfish go, the fishing was not as hot as in previous years, at least not for us anyway, although we did see our share of White Marlin and Sailfish.

Looking forward to Bluefin Tuna season(Dec. thru Jan.) and if the Spring offshore fishing out of Wrightsville Beach is as strong in 08 as it was in 07, BOOK NOW!

The Inshore fishing has been late in arriving and I have been waiting for the fall fishing to come around before letting everyone know what was going on. Well I think things are starting to turn as the water temps have dropped and the Speckled Trout are starting to bite! The Drum are feeding heavily on the tail end of the Finger Mullet migration as they head South for the Winter. This is my favorite time of year to fish with cool temps, less crowds and great fishing, I believe it should stay consistent right on through into January. The pictures are a Redfish that I caught on Topwater recently and Happens to be the biggest one that I have caught on artificial(15lbs) to date, and a Speckled Trout that we also caught on a Topwater plug.

Spring '07

Hello everyone. It has been some time since I have posted a fishing report, and some of you have never received one, but I am working on a blog and will keep everyone posted as to when it is up and working.I am also working on a Website renovation and will let you know when it is ready.

Well spring is definately here and the fishing has really picked up right along with it.

The Redfish(Puppy Drum) are biting really well and we have had a few double digit days on fly! Attached is a pic of the biggest I have seen on fly North of Snows Cut(13lbs+ on the Boga grip!) It seems as if every Spring there are more fish and bigger schools, maybe the slot limit is working, and it suits me just fine.



Offshore has been really consistent also with Wahoo, Tuna, and Dolphin. On the 'Stream Weaver' this spring we caught an 84lb Wahoo (My largest ever), a 100lb Mako, and a few weeks ago had a 500lb Blue Marlin up on the teaser but she wouldn't bite. The big Yellowfins showed up last week and lets hope they hang around for a while. Well we are off to Hatteras Tuesday to fish The first of the NC Governors Cup Tournaments.I will let you all know how it turns out. I am also attaching a pic of a Blue Marlin we released last summer in Hatteras.
