Hot Winter Fishing

The Striped Bass in the Cape Fear River have been biting consistently lately, and we have caught some really nice fish! The weather has been really hard to predict, but the Stripers don’t seem to mind. There have been a few locals who have caught their first river Stripers and just days prior to the Cape Fear River Watch Striperfest Tournament I managed to catch my personal best a 14lber!(see pic). As far as the tournament goes I always say that ” I would rather be lucky than good” and I am really gratefully that some good luck shined upon us. My anglers, Robbie Rhyne and Frank Spencer and I found a couple of really good fish(28″ and 29.5″ inches) that held on to take the Largest Aggregate and Largest Fish prizes! It was a tough, windy and cold day, to say the least, and the 5 fish that Jason Dail and his anglers caught to win Most Fish Tagged, were hard earned. Love the tournament and banquet, it’s always a good time for a great cause!!
